CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE
2009 - Exit Plan
Monday after the Norwood drinks thing, I went to work and gave my two-weeks’ notice. Mr. Henriques called me into his office at 4 o’clock to let me know he’d received my resignation.
“Yep, it’s almost time for me to get ready for Panama,” I replied.
Mr. Henriques grabbed his iPhone and started tapping around.
“According to the calendar, you’re scheduled to arrive in about six weeks, more or less. Why don’t you just finish out this week and then start preparing for your move?”
I accepted his offer. Life would be so much easier if I could spend the majority of my time focusing on the future.
“Great. I’ll let HR know.”
Before I could turn to leave, Mr. Henriques said, “By the way, I spoke with Olmando and he said you’re an excellent host. I have a feeling you may have a few more events to attend in the upcoming weeks.”
I gave my best friend’s father a fake smile and told him I was looking forward to it.
