2007 – Back To BK
I held it down for three years- did my time, got my master’s, tutored hundreds of GED seekers and kept the faith. My release date was set for right after New Year’s 2007, 61 months after my arrest.
My re-entry plan was simple: have Hopeton pick me up at the prison gate and take me back to my parents’ house. Back to Bed Stuy. Back to BK. And from there, I’d go with the flow.
Hopeton rolled up to Fort Dix in a BMW 550i. Brand new. Beautiful. Gregory Issacs blasting through the car’s state of the art sound system.
If I could reach the border. Then I would step across.
The perfect vehicle for my return.
