CHAPTER SIXTY
2003- Tighten Up
My cozy birthday with Donya reignited my interest in shibari and inspired me to do a little exploring- strictly for personal growth.
I mean, I was living across the hall from a fully equipped, sadly underutilized playroom. And that playroom did have a treasure trove of shiny new rope kits, suspension rings and swivel hooks. I got in there and grabbed the prettiest rope I could find. I wanted to see if I still had it.
But sad to say, it only took a few fumbling attempts at the most basic tanzen musubi for me to admit to myself that I sucked. Unless I tightened up, skills-wise, there would be no way I’d be ready for Donya and Marisol when they finally made their move.
So, I turned to the world wide web for guidance. All I had to do was go back to my bedroom and boot up my Gateway desktop.
I went online and asked Jeeves[1] to show me websites that could help me learn some new shibari techniques.
Scrolling through the results, I saw a link to Midori's website, which seemed to contain diagrams for the types of knot configurations I was looking for.
Getting back into the saddle meant doing the knowledge.
I settled in for a long night of study.
[1] Ask Jeeves was a question-based search engine popular in the early 2000s. Still in use in 2003, it lost ground to Google by the mid-2000s.
